Alejandro, Marcello and Hossein trained as therapists in Spain and Iran. All three have successfully completed their adaptation period (Anpassungslehrgang) with us at Therapoint and reached German at B2 level. Congratulations, we are very proud of what you’ve achieved!
Get to know their story
Hossein completed a four-year bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy in Iran. Before moving to Germany with his wife, he gained experience in hospitals and practices.
Marcello and Alejandro both completed a four-year bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy in Spain and bring several years of work experience. Marcello has Hungarian and Italian roots, Alejandro has roots in Gran Canaria.
What does recognition in Germany involve?
If you trained as a physiotherapist or occupational therapist outside Germany, you need official recognition (Anerkennung) before you can work as a therapist in Germany. The responsible authority compares your training with the German one. If there are differences, you usually make up for them through an adaptation period in a practice or clinic, which can last from two months to one year. Even though you might be well qualified with a bachelor’s, master’s or even a PhD, the German authority often prescribes an adaptation period for you to become familiar with the German healthcare system. In addition, you need German at B2 level.
What it took
Most international therapists are well qualified. What makes the start in Germany hard is everything around the job: paperwork, moving, and getting used to a different therapy and healthcare system. Therapoint supported all three with these steps. They pushed through, learned the language, and bring the knowledge from their studies and years of practice into our team.
Congratulations!
Alejandro, Marcello, Hossein: well done, and thank you for being part of our team.
They show what’s possible when strong therapists get the right support. If you’re good at what you do and ready to go for it, we’ll help you with the rest.
